Oceana Masterman-Smith

I’ve always been an artist at heart, but after my Bachelors in Fine Art, a crisis in confidence stopped me. I channelled my creativity into other areas, principally as a curator and designer for The Baldwin Gallery, collaborating with wonderful museums and artists across London. Discovering a love for printmaking, I also discovered the confidence to return to work as an artist. All of my prints are carved by hand on traditional grey lino, and printed either by hand or on a small press in my studio. To follow my journey, you can find me at @oceanams on Instagram, where I share behind-the-scenes photos and videos, as well as plenty of ‘Blue’ pics (my King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, once a gallery dog, now a studio dog) and the occasional art giveaway.

Each of my works are lovingly handmade and my embossed prints are achieved through creating enough pressure on damp paper with the use of an etching press, to reveal the depth of the design, resulting in an enchanting minimalist sculptural effect. To enjoy the full effect of embossing, hang your print somewhere that catches light and shadow during the day.

Due to the nature of relief printing, each print is unique. Please be aware that every print is slightly different, and expect variations in the emboss, colour, ink transfer and texture. All paper has been hand-ripped to size.

Prints are sent secured between two pieces of cardboard for safety. Postage to the UK is free and sent via Royal Mail, 2nd Class standard. International deliveries are priced according to location.
